Ornamental value and landscape use: If you’re looking for an evergreen shrub to brighten your landscape or contrast existing shrubbery, consider golden mop cypress. Besides being an evergreen, this Sawara cypress, with its golden hue, offers a contrast not only in color but in texture as well. Hardy and low-maintenance, golden mop cypress holds its bright yellow color all season. The more sunlight it receives, the more vibrant the color will get.
Golden mop cypress will grow five feet tall as a loose mound. It is great planted en masse or on its own. Be sure to protect the cypress from strong wind and avoid planting it in wet or poorly drained soil.
