Ornamental value and landscape use: Matrona sedum is another traditional perennial. The blue-green succulent foliage grows along strong purple stems. Matrona sedum is hardy, drought-tolerant, and thrives in full sunlight. It is also low maintenance and requires splitting only once every few years.
Matrona sedum will grow in sandy or gravelly soil, making it perfect for rock gardens. The flat-topped dusty pink flowers appear in the late summer to early fall. The plant continues to bloom throughout the fall and eventually fades into a beautiful deep burgundy color.
Matrona sedum is deer-tolerant and attracts pollinators such as bees, butterflies, and other insects. Matrona sedum is best planted in a group, along borders, or used to make a mixed perennial border.
